Wine and Tapas at Sana Hotel – 7 September

by Carl Kruse, Ivy Circle Berlin

The Ivy Circle-Berlin invites you to a wine and tapas evening at the Sana Berlin Hotel on Wednesday, 7th September 2022 from 7pm to 9pm.

Join us as we team up with Club Vivanova at the beautiful open terrace area of the hotel to taste premium Argentinean, Australian, Chilean and Spanish wines paired with Portuguese tapas.

Our guide for the evening is Bradley Mitton, a wine expert from the United Kingdom, currently based in Monaco, where he has gained renown for his events in the French Riviera, including at the Nobu Monte Carlo, Fairmont Monte Carlo, the Monaco Grand Prix, and various super yachts.

Ivy Circle Berlin Gathering - Carl Kruse

The last event we did with Bradley received tremendous accolades and we look forward to another beautiful evening of meeting new friends and old.

The Sana Berlin Hotel is about 600 meters from KaDeWe at Nürnberger Str. 33-34 in Berlin. The stylish hotel offers a spacious outdoor area with comfy sofas for our event.

The cost is 30€ and includes everything – free flowing wine, great tapas and of course the gathering of our Ivy Circle combined with Bradley’s Club Vivanova group. We should be about 50-70 people.

It will be good!

The new school, opening in September, has the mandate to drive scholarship and high-impact solutions for climate and sustainability challenges around the world, with an endowment of $1.69B to launch. We are honored to get this first hand exclusive preview even before its opening.

For a discussion with all participants we’ll have two outstanding personalities join Prof. Suckale:

Albrecht Graf Matuschka, the iconic pioneer of Corporate Venture Capital in Germany in the 1980’s and expert in sustainable finance. He has been involved in the establishment of the German private business school system. He travels to Berlin from Frankfurt.

Juan Carlos Alonso, Stanford Graduate School of Business graduate, executive board member of the Belgian corporation Bekaert, a $5 billion revenue world market leader in steel fiber products. Juan Carlos is responsible for strategy and corporate development of a company which is prototypical for sustainable transformation. He travels for the event from Belgium.

Please bring your friends and families for what will be a great event. The gorgeous venue is by a lake and the BBQ will be hosted by our own Chef Susanne, who has a culinary degree.

As summer approaches we awake to warmer weather, brighter skies and good cheer. The Ivy Circle in Berlin has a series of summer events planned beginning with an invite for Thursday, June 2, 2022 to the theatrical release of the documentary “The Strait Guys” at the legendary Babylon Theater in Mitte. A cocktail gathering along with the cast and crew of “The Strait Guys” takes place just before the film release between 6pm-7pm at The Grand, Hirtenstraße 4, 10178 Berlin. (This quirky place supposedly has been in business since 1842).

So, meet first at 6pm at The Grand for complimentary appetizers and wine (open cash bar for anything other than wine) and at about 7ish pm make our way on foot (3 minutes) to the Babylon Theater to catch the premiere of “The Strait Guys.”

Written and directed by Columbia alum (and Ivy Circle friend) Rick Minnich, “The Strait Guys” tells the story of American and Russian entrepreneurs trying to link the USA and Russia via the world’s longest train tunnel beneath the Bering Strait.  Following the film, Rick and one of the Russian producers will be available for a Q&A session. Post film we meet back at The Grand.

Tickets for the film can be purchased in advance at https://babylonberlin.eu/film/4696-the-strait-guys-der-traum-vom-tunnel?fbclid=IwAR1Uy4XsSf5zkthTOHbmhkyGRk-Eq_QAXBQu1BP6x5r8M4z4KY52gS3-Ll8 or at the box office at the Babylon theater on the night of the release.

Our next Ivy Berlin Stammtisch returns Thursday, August 1 at 6:30 p.m. at “CASSAMBALIS” – Grolmanstr. 35, near the corner of Kud’amm and Uhlandstr.

One of Angela Merkel’s favorite restaurants, Cassambalis is the creation of Petra and Constantinos Cassambalis, who have fused Greek and Italian cooking into a delightful menu. The restaurant has won numerous awards and is listed in the Michelin guide. Cassambalis is an elegant casual place festooned in art and good energy. A perfect place for us to come together.

To make things easy the Cassambalis have agreed to let the Stammtisch order a la carte and will offer some welcome wine on the house.

Please RSVP to [email protected] so that I can get an accurate head count for the restaurant. Hope you can make it and look forward to seeing you at what should be a beautiful evening.

ur next Ivy Berlin Stammtisch returns on Thursday, June 6 at 6:30 p.m. at “SCHWEIN” – Mommsenstr. 63, Charlottenburg 0629 Berlin.

This time we have international wine expert JACLYN ZIMMERMAN join us to talk about good wine and how best to pair it with food, as well as to present four wines to us. It is an informal gathering with the main focus of course on coming together.

Schwein is an elegant casual place near the Savignyplatz S-bahn that in spite its name also has vegetarian offerings. For this Stammtisch, we have a discounted rate for the wine tasting for those who would like to participate of 20€. There will be bread baskets provided for free and of course the entire SCHWEIN menu open for a la carte ordering.

Please RSVP to [email protected] so that I can get an accurate head count for the restaurant. The last few gatherings have seen the promise of several budding businesses emerge and new friendships. We hope to continue the great energy this time around.
